Sportcal, the leading sports market research company, published the annual Cities Index that analyses the success of nations and some cities in attracting major sports events. The capital of the Republic of Tatarstan - Kazan - rose nine places to tenth spot. Russia climbed to second place, with China taking the top position.
Kazan is getting ready to host another international sports competition. The Four Nations Diving Meet will start tomorrow, December 6, at the Aquatics Palace. Over 60 decorated athletes from Germany, Italy, Russia and Ukraine will battle for a spot at the top of the podium.
On the eve of International Volunteer Day, the State Council of the Republic of Tatarstan had a meeting with the most active members of the volunteer movement. The 2013 Summer Universiade, which was successfully held this summer in Kazan, gave a whole new impetus to this relatively new but already popular vector of youth policy that is so sought after in the republic.
At the beginning of the ceremony, Rafis Burganov delivered a welcoming speech, saying: “I would like to personally say thank you very much. The next day after we closed the Universiade, Vladimir Alexandrovich and I left first to one championship and then witnessed two more championships, and then competitions of a lower level, followed by the World Combat Games. Of course, we haven’t seen anything similar to what we did. Everywhere everyone, especially foreigners, recalled the Universiade, and they came to judge at those competitions wearing suits that had been provided to them here. And we still feel their gratitude.”
Now, apart from the outfit of volunteers, staff and other client groups, granted to the museum previously, people can see a Torchbearer uniform and one of the torches used during the Torch Relay of the 27th Summer Universiade 2013 in Kazan.
